Learn about Facebook’s Season of Giving campaign and get inspired to give back to your community this holiday season

*** Giving Tuesday is December 1, 2020 ***

Social Impact Partner Management Lead, Facebook

The holidays will look different this year. While we may not be able to celebrate the season in the same ways we usually do, one tradition remains the same: giving back. Each year, GivingTuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This global day of giving inspires people across the globe to show up and give back to causes and issues that matter to them.

This year, people are coming together while apart, using social media to support loved ones, causes and communities in creative ways. Facebook is matching a total of $7 million in donations to U.S. nonprofits on Giving Tuesday, and its new Season of Giving campaign celebrates the many ways people can give and inspires people to give what they can.

On November 23, Kaitlyn Jankowski will be available for interviews to share details about Giving Tuesday and ways you can give back. In this segment, she will expand on the following:

  • Donate:More than $100 million has been raised for COVID-related fundraisers andmore than $65 million has been raised for racial justice-related fundraiserson Facebook and Instagram this year. More than half of these donations are less than $25; all donations have an impact.
  • Start or donate to a drive. With many people out of work and food insecurity affecting nearly 1 in 3 people in the US due to COVID-19 (according to a recent Facebook survey), Facebook is starting to roll out Drives, a new feature in its Community Help hub to make it easier for people and organizations to collect food, clothes and other items to donate to people in need this holiday season.
  • Support Black-owned businesses: Black-owned businesses have been hit especially hard by the pandemic, closing at twice the rate of other small businesses.
