Senior Director of Strategic Communications, The Toy Associatio

The Genius of Play, a national movement to educate parents and caregivers about play’s vital role in child development spearheaded by The Toy Association, recently launched “Play Today,” a digital hub for families offering both traditional and virtual play activities. Through Play Today, The Genius of Play and The Toy Association will be encouraging families to stay well and play on! While a timely message, the initiative continues The Genius of Play’s foundational commitment to being the ultimate resource on the benefits of play and its critical role in child development.

As millions of families adjust to the new normal of staying home in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Play Today aims to help families make the most of their time together by providing countless play ideas and other inspiration to keep kids busy and engaged, plus expert advice to cope with stress and navigate uncertainty. In these unprecedented and uncertain times, play is critical to the physical and emotional well-being for both kids and adults. Not only can play bring comfort and relieve anxiety during stressful periods, but it can also help strengthen family bonds, improve communication, and teach kids important lifelong skills. Play Today educates parents and caregivers about the many benefits of play and provides hundreds of ideas and activities to help bring these benefits to life.

On April 29th, Adrienne Appell, Senior Director of Strategic Communications at The Toy Association, is available live to share how families can incorporate play into their everyday routines, keep moving, stay well and play on!  She can discuss this exciting new online resource for parents and caregivers to keep kids occupied and engaged. The destination features activities to get kids up and moving, a comprehensive list of learning at-home resources, ideas for virtual play, and games appropriate for any day, any place, and any size family.
