Dr. Anita Imadomwanyi: May 16, 2019

450+ Aspen Dental offices to participate in 6th Annual Healthy Mouth Movement Day of Service on June 8th

Dr. Anita Imadomwanyi

Director of Clinical Support & Charitable Giving

Nearly 150 million Americans didn’t go to the dentist last year. Millions more live in places where there is little or no access to care. Other barriers like cost, lack of insurance, and fear also prohibit regular dental visits. This is especially challenging for many U.S. military veterans, who are not eligible for dental benefits through the Veterans Administration unless they are 100% disabled, have a service-related mouth injury or were a prisoner of war.

To serve the men and women who have served our country, the nation’s largest network of branded dental offices, Aspen Dental is working to close the gap for those veterans who have not previously been able to access dental care through its Healthy Mouth Movement. Since launching in 2014, The Mouth Mobile has served more than 21,000 veterans across the U.S. and 2019 marks the sixth anniversary of the program’s Day of Service. On Saturday, June 8, 2019, 450+ Aspen Dental offices will be opening their doors to provide free dental care to thousands of veterans.

  • 2019 marks the 6th annual Day of Service
  • Starting on May 1, veterans nationwide can call 1-844-277-3646 (1-844-ASPENHMM) to find a participating Aspen Dental office in their community and schedule an appointment during the annual Day of Service.
  • There are 18.2 million veterans in the United States, most without access to dental care once they return home.
  • Over 4,300 veterans received treatment on the 2018 Day of Service.
  • Being a veteran and a senior can be a two-fold problem for some vets since they may be at an even higher risk of added dental problems with no means of reli
  • Aspen Dental’s MouthMobile is seeing more female veterans this year than in years prior through partnerships with women veteran community organizations, such as the Lady Veterans Connect.
  • About 11% of the adult homeless population are veterans. Homeless veterans are younger on average than the total veteran population.

On May 16th, join dentist Dr. Anita Imadomwanyi, who will outline the need for dental care for vets and explain the plan to provide free dental care. Dr. Imadomwanyi will also explain the MouthMobile, the 42-foot mobile dentist office on wheels which drives directly into veteran communities to offer free care on a nationwide, yearlong tour.
