Build Fabulous Costumes and Celebrate Halloween on a Budget

Get a First Look at Halloween Trends for 2016

Evette Rios

Lifestyle Expert and TV Personality

October is Goodwill’s highest sales month (higher than December). Millions of people have shopped at Goodwill’s more than 3,200 stores to find fashionable and unique Halloween costumes on a budget.

Goodwill is a trusted Halloween DIY expert, and people have been shopping at Goodwill® to create Halloween costumes for many years — long before it was trendy. Why spend a lot of money on a costume someone else might have, when people can find one-of-a-kind costumes for much less? All you need is a little creativity and imagination.

When people shop at Goodwill, they fund training programs that help people find jobs and build their careers. Last year, 312,000 people found jobs with Goodwill’s help. Halloween shoppers at Goodwill can take pride knowing their purchases are helping others.

For the past several years, Goodwill has commissioned a Goodwill Halloween Poll to uncover the latest Halloween trends and costumes. Results of the survey will be released publicly on Tuesday morning, October 4, 2016. Reporters and media outlets who request the information and interviews can get a copy of the results beginning Friday, September 23.

Highlights of the survey include:

  • The types of costumes that will be popular this season, such as funny, iconic/classic, political, pop culture inspired, etc.
  • The popularity of political costumes (given the election year) and group costumes.
  • The percentage of adults who attend a Halloween party this year, given that Halloween is on a Monday.
  • Whether or not people will buy more than one costume (such as one for a work party, another to wear with the kids while trick-or-treating, etc.).
  • Halloween costume trends from Goodwill shoppers and the popularity of certain traditional costumes like vampires, zombies and pirates.

On Tuesday, October 4, lifestyle expert and TV personality Evette Rios is available for you and your listeners to share her secrets on creating a unique Halloween costume on a budget with items from Goodwill and share Halloween Poll trends to help people have a frighteningly fabulous holiday.
