Choosing A Medicare Plan for 2020 Can Be Simpler With The Proper Knowledge And Resources

The Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Annual Election Period (AEP) is here, running from October 15 through December 7. This is the time of year when people aged 65 and older are reviewing their health insurance options. It’s important to take care of all facets of well-being as you grow older, but ensuring your physical health is taken care of is essential to healthy aging.

Choosing a Medicare plan for you or your loved one can seem overwhelming, so it’s important to understand your options. While it’s common to have many questions, Humana believes that with the right information and resources, selecting the right Medicare or Medicare Advantage plan can be simpler.

On Thursday, October 10, Jeffrey Fernandez of Humana will be available for interview to share tips on how to choose the right plan this Medicare enrollment period. He will also help clarify common misconceptions and share information on the numerous resources available to help meet seniors’ health needs.

Jeffrey Fernandez currently serves as Vice President, Western Segment for the Medicare Advantage products and MarketPoint at Humana, which includes responsibility for 16 Western states (WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, UT, AZ, CO, NM, KS, OK, TX, MO, AR, LA, MS). The Western Segment represents 865,000 members. His responsibility for MarketPoint includes all distribution efforts at Humana including external, career and telesales.

Previously, he served as the VP for the Central Division and started his career in the Medicare Advantage space as the Regional President of the Gulf States Region (Louisiana and Mississippi). Prior to his roles focusing on Medicare Advantage, Jeffrey was Vice President of Provider Operations for Humana’s Gulf States Region, which included responsibility for all provider contracting and relations. He started his career with Humana in 2005 as Director of Provider contracting in Louisiana.

Prior to his career at Humana, Jeffrey worked at East Jefferson General Hospital in New Orleans, where he was Director of Managed Care. Responsibilities included all contracting activities with health insurance companies and new business development.

Jeffrey earned degrees from the following universities:

1. LSU, BS in Marketing

2. University of New Orleans, MBA, Finance

3. Loyola University, Juris Doctor

Jeffrey was born in Metairie, grew up in Baton Rouge and now resides in New Orleans, LA.
