Annette Son: No Food for You Missy: Make Food Your Friend You Are Not Alone

According to research, about 32 percent of Americans believe they are allergic or sensitive to at least one type of food. And yet, less than 4% of adults have this condition documented by their doctors. On the other hand, there are about 170 food ingredients that can trigger allergies. People can experience symptoms and not even know that these may be caused by the food they eat.

I am an author, life coach, private tutor, and most of all, a Mom. I live in Southern California with one husband, two sons and three birds — all of them helping me not to feel bored throughout the day!

I’ve lived a fairly normal life until one day my happy Nutella-toast-in-the-morning-days came to a very abrupt halt and were, involuntarily, replaced by… I can’t even describe it… well, you’ll have to read and see what it is that I now have for breakfast and other meals, as well as the snacks I’ve suffered through.

The reason for this change was a truly accidental discovery of allergies and food sensitivities.

As a result, not by personal choice but rather as directed by my naturopath, I found myself thrown into the very unfamiliar territory of a world that is gluten-free, free of dairy, yeast, eggs, poultry, nuts and seeds, etc., etc., as well as, mostly free of ideas for dinner.

I’ve learned a lot and thought I would share this knowledge with you, along with my experiences, good and bad, and for sure the funny ones!
